Nine Mexican archaeological sites are declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Palenque, Teotihuacán, Monte Albán, Chichen Itzá, Tajín, Uxmal Paquimé, Xochicalco and Calakmul now enjoy immunity under the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
